The Triangle

The Triangle is the first movement of the “Easy Eight” movements and the first movement taught in the Timbrel Praise: Basic Tambourine course. Before beginning, you should first learnt how to play the Shake, Shake with a Bang and Continuous Bang in the “Steps” section.

How to Learn Tambourine Movements

  • Learn how to play each step used in the movement. The Triangle uses the Shake, Shake with a Bang and Continuous Bangs.
  • Read through the longhand and shorthand instructions until you have the general idea of how to play the movement. 
  • Using your tambourine, work through each step slowly until you have formed the movement.
  • Watch the instructional video, if available.
    It’s recommended that you watch the video AFTER you have tried to figure out the movement to improve how quickly you learn the movement. 
  • Practice the movement until you are able to movement fluently.
  • Practice the movement with music.
  • This is how you should learn all movements.

Longhand Instructions

1.     2/4 Shakes with a Bang from waist left to upper centre.

2.     2/4 Shakes with a Bang from upper centre to waist right.

3.     2/4 Shakes with a Bang from waist right to waist left.

4.     2 Continuous Bangs at waist left.

Movement Notes

  • Make sure your non-playing hand follows the tambourine.
  • Remember to turn the tambourine 180 degrees when playing the Shakes and Continuous Bangs.
