{Basic Tambourine Step}

Description


 

Whip the tambourine in the direction indicated, skimming the membrane with the open palm of your non playing hand.

Unless other indicated, the membrane should face left.

2 Skinners are usually played with the first skinner being whipped downwards and the second skinner being whipped upwards.

1 whip of the tambourine is counted as 1 Skinner and is usually worth 1 beat.

  • Elbow Skinner: Do the Skinner using your non playing arm’s elbow, usually with you non playing arm held vertically on your left side.
  • Handless Skinner: Do the Skinner without using your non playing arm.
  • Right/Left Thigh Skinner: Do the Skinner using your right/left thigh.
